Milestone achievements don’t happen very often. In fact, many are hard to accomplish. But this particular one in my life I felt needed to be highlighted. This June of 2022, marks 20 years that I’ve been in radio! 😱

When I say that out loud, it actually sounds unbelievable and unrealistic! Let’s face it, 20 years especially in this industry is a LONG TIME! I got my first break on air in June of 2002. From that very moment, it’s been one heck of a ride!

When people hear that 20 year number, they look at me in disbelief. I can see the wheels turning in their head. 😏 They wonder how I’ve been in radio for 20 years when I’m only 21 lol! I tell them that I came out of the womb talking 😂

All jokes aside, I embrace the experience and knowledge I have obtained over these years. A big thank you to all of the people and radio homes that have made this journey possible. Ya know what? I’m proud and humbled to say that despite all of the radio ups and downs, I’m still holding on to this bucking bull! With that said, I will continue to do so for as long as I can.

Another birthday celebration just happened, and this time it was super special! A few of my friends and I got together at one of my favorite NYC restaurants – Hunt & Fish Club. This year, I was presented with my very own engraved steak knife.

Hunt & Fish Club is one of the top restaurants in NYC and they have a huge knife wall on display. It showcases many of the celebrities and VIP’s that dine at their establishment. Thanks to Nelson and Tina, I now have a personalized knife that was added to the wall which I will get to use every time I dine there.

This was a spectacular gift and one of the biggest highlights of my birthday celebration this year. I’m so glad that I was able to share this moment with my closest friends. I highly recommend H&F Club and when you’re there, feel free to take a picture next to my knife and take a look to see what other familiar names you recognize!

Women are strong and resilient. Women are the reason why the population continues to grow. Women are the backbones and rocks to any solid foundation. Women have voices and should never feel like they can’t express themselves. Women have and will continue to be leaders who will command respect. We will continue to raise and uplift one another because that’s what bad ass boss bitches do!

You Need A Party ‘n Box

The idea of having a party during Covid times is pretty much non-existent. We’ve all had to find ways to get creative. Most of us have turned to zoom to face time our loved ones. We’ve had endless zoom happy hours and face time dates. We’ve even celebrated milestones through the screen. From birthdays to weddings, baby showers and more.

My friends and I are used to doing it big for our birthday celebrations. It’s the one day a year that we all look forward to getting together. However, this year was extremely challenging.

Leave it to my friend Audrey to pull off a birthday extravaganza from the comfort of our homes. She reached out to her good friend Shelli Stelmak who is a high end party planner. Last year, she put on Audrey’s birthday which was phenomenal, but this year I was truly blown away.

As a party planner, Shelli had to revamp her way of thinking since Covid forced all of us to cancel large gatherings. She created a new company called Party ‘n Box. It’s basically self explanatory – it’s a party in a box, LITERALLY!

I received this HUGE box delivered to my home, decorated beautifully. I couldn’t wait to open it. The moment I did, a bunch of balloons exploded out of it! Inside were more goodies and I didn’t even know where to start! For a moment, I felt like a celebrity receiving this extravagant gift – and it wasn’t even my birthday!

I pulled out the personalized box, which had my friends name on it. It mimicked a Gucci pattern which I loved! Inside was everything “Gucci”. There were champagne glasses and a bottle of bubbly with their logo. Also, a beautiful pair of earrings with the logo, as well as a logoed cell phone card holder. Can’t forget the Godiva chocolates and plates and forks to eat cake on. Yes, THIS personal sized cake was also in the huge box which had my friends initials on it in the Gucci pattern! By the way, you’ll also find candles included in the box! I suggest that you blow them out WITH your friend on zoom so all of their wishes come true!

We all jumped on zoom and partied together with these amazing goodies! Even though we weren’t physically in the same location this year, this was definitely a party to remember, especially during Covid!

I highly recommend that you check out Party ‘n Box for your next event. It’s a great way to celebrate something with your friends and family, even if you can’t all be in the same place. No one will feel like they were left out of the celebration!

I was hoping to celebrate my birthday like normal this year, because I had hoped that Covid would be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I usually have a decent size birthday dinner with all of my friends. This year, I decided that I would just keep things super low key. I had two of my closest friends, Cinthya and Jessica join me at Kyma in Flatiron.

I’m a huge fan of Greek food and have been to their Long Island location in the past. We lucked out with the amazing weather, and were able to enjoy a beautiful night of outdoor dining.

The food was fantastic and the vibe was just what I was looking for. Not too quiet and not too loud. The chef, George Pagonis was a Bravo Top Chef finalist on Season 12 and I can honestly say the food speaks for itself. Joe Ragonese, their Director of Operations showcased his wonderful hospitality and was very attentive.

My Personal Recommendations

For Starters

I highly recommend ordering some of the same stuff we did. We started off with their Crudo Sampler. It includes pieces of tuna, Branzino and salmon. If you love raw fish, you will be in heaven. The classic Greek Salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and feta was delicious. You know we had to get the Kyma Chips which are crispy slices of fried zucchini and eggplant. Dip them into the tzatziki and you will come back for more.

I am a HUGE fan of octopus and needed my fix. I was not disappointed at all. It wasn’t chewy, it was seasoned perfectly and it sits over a bed of hummus. Make sure you get the grilled shrimp. I have never seen shrimp this size! They are a must have!

You’re probably thinking, they can’t eat anymore. Think again! For dinner, we shared the Lamb Chops, cooked to perfection and one of their popular dishes, the Lobster Pasta! I’m a seafood fanatic and the chunks of lobster that they include made the carb intake all worth it.

Drink Recommendations

If you’re looking for some delicious cocktails, try their Berry Refreshing. I have never been a Gin drinker, and this cocktail had me questioning where that alcohol has been all my life! It was just the right amount of sweet and it looked gorgeous. If you like Tequila, make sure to try their spicy margarita. If Vodka is your thing, check out their Pineapple Punch. I promise you I’m not an alcoholic! It was my birthday and I get a pass.

Dessert Time

Dessert was what we were all waiting for. We got a platter of probably all of the sweet yumminess they offer and I was a fan of the lava cake and the cheesecake. Whatever you do, don’t skip dessert! You’ll be upset if you do.

Overall

If you’re looking for a place with delicious food and a NYC trendy vibe, I highly recommend Kyma in Flatiron. It’s perfect for a celebration, a date night, or a night out with friends. They also have a DJ mixing live Friday’s and Saturday’s. Yes, my friends and I will be back to check that out!

Paris Hilton Blames Who?

Paris Hilton and I had such a great convo on my show Astra’s World on Pitbull’s Globalization and boy did we have A LOT to talk about.

I was super excited to chat with her after watching her documentary, “This Is Paris”. By the way, if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s a MUST WATCH! I’ll post it at the bottom for you! She was so brave and vulnerable for sharing her horrifying story from her time at Provo Canyon School.

The one burning question we all want answered was, did your mom ever apologize to you? You’ll understand why I asked her that after you watch her documentary.

Paris just dropped a new song called ” I Blame You” with my friend DJ Lodato, which is a LOVE SONG! Yes – Paris is finally in a TRULY loving, happy and healthy relationship. She found her equal! She’s a liberated, changed woman using her voice and platform to get involved with the Breaking Code Silence Movement. They help the troubled teen industry, including those involved in the Provo Canyon School that Paris attended. All proceeds from her new song are going to the Breaking Code Silent Movement. She just teamed up with her longtime childhood friend Kim Kardashian to launch a new SKIMS collection. Been dying to try SKIMS because they look so comfy and sleek. Her collection covers loungewear which is PERFECT for the colder weather and to lounge in during quarantine.

I Caught A Catfish!

For those who know me, and listen to Tales Over Cocktails, you know that I should be working for the FBI or CIA. I’m not sure if it’s a blessing or a curse, but from years of dating, I’ve become a stellar detective. I’ve caught people cheating, catfishes for friends, and recently, I reeled in my own catfish, AND let him have it!!

I was so excited to share this story with my crew on the pod, so take a listen! P.S. if you’re a catfish, watch out because I’ll find you! LOL

Plus, I recently tried eyebrow lamination with my girl Tatyana at Russian Volume NYC here in Manhattan. It’s pretty much a perm for your eyebrows. I explained the whole process on the podcast today and highly recommend that you try it. Especially if you have thinner eyebrows or are trying to grow them out.

My Website Is Reborn!

During quarantine, we all had A LOT of downtime. I’ve had the same website FOREVER so I knew this was the perfect project to tackle while sitting around and doing nothing.

All thanks to my girl Wendy Wild for staying on top of me and pushing me (and helping me tremendously) I can finally say, MY NEW WEBSITE IS HERE!!

This has been something that I have been wanting to update and re-design for a very long time. I have a newfound respect for all of the web designers and graphic designers out there because building a website is NO JOKE!

As for my website, I need to give majority of the credit to Wendy! Without her tech skills and graphic designing skills (which she learned mostly during quarantine), I would still be sitting here trying to figure out how to even post this blog entry! LOL

So with all of this said, THANK YOU WENDY for helping me and inspiring me to get off my butt and to get this done. It’s still not 100% complete, but I can’t contain my excitement anymore and I feel that it’s good enough to be revealed to YOU!
